Heading Into the Final Stretch

November is almost over, and therefore so is NaNoWriMo. I’m still moving along. I’m no longer sure I’ll reach the end of the story by the end of November, though. An extra episode inserted itself into my story, so I’m not quite where I thought I would be at this point.

This afternoon, I’m going to take a little bit of time to do some planning for the next phases of the story and see if I might manage to still get to the end by November 30. I’ve never managed to do that during NaNo, and this year is the closest I’ve ever come, so I’m still holding out hope that I can make it work.

As soon as I post this, I’m going to take my stack of inspirational books and my story notebook and settle in with the fire going and music and the washer as background noise, and I’m going to get my writing done earlier today because I’ve been leaving it until too late at night all this past week. Things are nice and peaceful today, though, so it’s a good day to spend more time with my story.

I hope you’re having a great writing day!

  1. Ooohhh, I love this fireplace. Keep writing, you can do it! I am at 40K today and I know I will get there. I am so relaxed about it that I may even keep writing after NaNo. You are already winning because you write all year long. You go, girl! So exciting, keep writing, you can do it! You still have 4 days and that is plenty if your story is moving. I wish for you to find your muse and get the rest of what you want to written. Happy writing.

    • Thank you so much for the encouragement, Rebecca! I’m glad to hear you are feeling relaxed about it. I hope you do keep writing after NaNo. Happy writing to you, too!

  2. Good luck with reaching 50k, even if it isn’t quite the end of the story. I’m at 44k in mine, and only a little past the midpoint. So, I know I won’t hit the end of the story before the end of the month. Maybe in December, though.

    • Thanks, Fallon! I maneuvered a few bits around, so I still might make it. But if I don’t, I’ll be aiming for December with you.

  3. How great that you are coming so close this NaNo, Kim. I have been doing far more plotting, sketching, and outlining than actually getting story bits done this NaNo, but it is still satisfying.

Here’s to fires and washers, and finishing in December, if not before!

    • I’ve done that sort of writing in November before as well. You’re right, it is satisfying. I am going to need to do some of it to figure out what to put in the giant plot holes I have once I hit the end of this draft.

      Here’s to finishing!
