NaNo Meets Thanksgiving

This week has been really hectic. I’m trying to clean things up for Thanksgiving, and that’s not going well, and I’m really behind. I’ve kept up with my word count–I’m even still a day ahead–but everything is kind of foggy. There’s too much going on in my head, and it’s keeping me from being fully engaged with anything I’m doing. I’m getting writing done, but the having fun part has slipped away.

I don’t know if I’m going to get back to really enjoying it until Thanksgiving is over. I’m really looking forward to not having to prep for a holiday! Thank goodness Christmas is at someone else’s house!

I’m going to set a pre-New Year’s resolution–next year I am *not* going to wait until November to start getting my house in order so that I can have people over. Now I just have to figure out how to actually get myself to get organized enough to not do this again.

Meanwhile, back to my haunted world. Things are easier there.

  1. Boy, I can sympathize, Kim. I did several years of the thirteen to sixteen family members at our house, and it was brutal. It has been just the four of us for a few years now–much easier on the psyche!

I imagine your haunted world is easier–I’m writing about World War II, and it is far easier.

    • It all went great. I just don’t get started on cleaning the house and things soon enough, and I stress myself out and make myself frantic over it all. But it sure was easier when we just had to make a couple of items and go elsewhere with them. 🙂

  2. We go to the Golden Corral. The kids don’t really care for Thanksgiving food, and there’s both a chocolate fountain and a salad bar in the same place.

I hope it all works out, and you find a system that works to get you organized better for next year.

In the meantime, there’s always your haunted world. My fantasy world is definitely easier than real life right now, too!

    • I really like Golden Corral. We don’t have those out here. I wonder how the family would feel about going out to eat on Thanksgiving next year? Hmm…

  3. I’m so glad we never have holidays at our house. It is not very big, and birthday parties are bad enough. We just show up somewhere else(usually my mom’s, sometimes my husband’s stepmom’s), and we can just leave when we’ve had enough. 😉

Glad you’re keeping up with NaNo, too and hope you can find the fun in it again. Have fun in your haunted world.

    • It was definitely easier when we weren’t hosting. We have the most room for everyone, though, so it makes sense for us to do Thanksgiving. We all cram in my inlaws’ small house for Christmas, and it’s really tight.
